Dr. Aziz Sancar, Distinguished Professor of Biochemistry & Biophysics and 2015 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry earns the 2016 O. Max Gardner Award, the highest faculty honor awarded by the UNC Board of Govenors.

On July 29, 2016, at a UNC Board of Govenor’s meeting, Dr. Aziz Sancar, Sarah Graham Kenan Distinguished Professor of Biochemistry & Biophysics and 2015 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry received the 2016 O. Max Gardner Award, the oldest and most prestigious statewide honor given to a faculty member who has “made the greatest contribution to the welfare of the human race.”
