The Journal of Biological Chemistry (JBC) publishes papers based on original research that are judged to make a novel and important contribution to understanding the molecular and cellular basis of biological processes. Mahmoud’s article, “Gain-of-Function Mutation W493R in the Epithelial Sodium Channel Allosterically Reconfigures Intersubunit Coupling,” was published in the February 19, 2016 edition of JBC, volume 291, issue 8.

Mahmoud is currently a 3rd year graduate student working in the lab of Dr. Nikolay Dokholyan, Michael Hooker Distinguished Professor of Biochemistry & Biophysics. Mahmoud use computational and experimental methods to understand the molecular basis of diseases such as cystic fibrosis and hypertension.
