The Department continues to rank highly for NIH funding among all Biochemistry departments in the US. In 2015, the Department secured 15.1 million in federal funding and ranks 8th.
We received over $15.1 million in funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in 2015. According to the Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research (BRIMR), this ranks us eighth among all Biochemistry departments and if considering just public institutions, that would make us the 3rd highest NIH funded biochemistry program. We are proud of our faculty for their hard work and accomplishments! Of special note is that Ronald Swanstrom ranks eighth among all principal investigators in Biochemistry for total NIH dollars.
