Graduate studies leading to a Ph.D. degree is recognized as a full-time commitment by the student. As such, students are expected to behave in a professional manner regarding time off to minimize conflicts with academic responsibilities, coursework, research, and/or teaching. In addition, time away from the lab must be discussed and approved in advance by the student’s advisor. Graduate students may take up to four weeks of vacation per year, which includes any time taken during University holidays and recesses.
