Being accepted into the Biochemistry & Biophysics Graduate Program means that we think you have the tools to be successful in scientific research pertaining to Biochemistry & Biophysics. However, to help you get off to a good start this section provides important information that you will need to get settled at UNC. From here you can get information about obtaining ID cards, keys, email accounts, and much more. - Important Deadlines
The Important Deadlines page specifies every important deadline required for students to stay on track for graduation. - Degree Requirements
The department’s requirements include the minimum and general requirements of the Graduate School of UNC-CH including the proper foundations for a doctoral degree. - Rotations
This page explains how to choose rotations, write reports, and make presentations of your results. There are also links to information needed when submitting your results, including format. - Courses and Grades
Course offerings and grading guidelines. - Student Committees
Explains the role of student committees, how they are chosen, when meetings occur and the requirements for meeting. This page also explains the role of each student's committee chair. - Research Advisor
This section explains the student's selection process of a research advisor. - Comprehensive Exam
This section provides information on the format and schedule for the comprehensive exam. This exam is required at end of the 2nd Year. The Thesis Proposal page provides in-depth information on formatting and writing your proposal. Also included are extensive explanations on the different sections which constitute the thesis proposal. - Fellowships
This section describes how to obtain applications for external fellowships (during Years 1 and 2). - Required Annual Progress Form
This form must be completed at the end of each annual thesis committee meeting and returned to the Assistant to the Director of Graduate Studies.
