Important Deadlines

First Year in BBSP

  • LABORATORY ROTATIONS I:  begins second week of September
  • LABORATORY ROTATIONS II:  begins first week of January
  • LABORATORY ROTATIONS III:  begins third week of March
  • SELECT RESEARCH ADVISOR:  completed no later than June 1

Second Year

  • GRANT WRITING COURSE BIOC 712:  take course during Fall semester (PhD students only)
  • 5 MEMBER THESIS COMMITTEE:  form before March of Spring semester
  • SPECIFIC AIMS TO THESIS COMMITTEE:  submit from March 15 thru April 15
    (committee will give feedback and approval)
  • ORAL COMPREHENSIVE EXAM:  completed by June 15
    (final proposal must be submitted to thesis committee no later than 1 week prior to oral exam)
  • WRITTEN COMPREHENSIVE EXAM:  August 10-17, 2010 (exam topics announced July 20, 2010)

Third Year

  • FIRST ANNUAL THESIS COMMITTEE MEETING:  completed on or before February 15

Fourth Year

  • SECOND ANNUAL THESIS COMMITTEE MEETING:  completed on or before December 15
