RESEARCH INTERESTS:

My research interests include the effects of maternal disease on pregnancy outcomes, specifically the effect of maternal infections on fetal growth and neurologic development. I am also interested in maternal vaginal and systemic infections or inflammatory processes that predispose women to spontaneous preterm birth. To effectively study the effect of maternal infections on pregnancy and neonatal outcomes requires the expertise of obstetrics, infectious diseases, neurology, and those familiar with inflammatory processes. Research in this area cannot be successful without integration of basic, clinical and translational researchers.
