RESEARCH INTERESTS:

My research objectives are to design and conduct early phase clinical trials that evaluate novel compounds and new combinations of drugs to treat breast cancer. I am interested in evaluating the pharmacologic and pharmacogenetic determinants of interpatient variability in toxicity of chemotherapy. I am particularly interested in developing new chemotherapy regimens that may be more appropriate for older women with breast cancer, and further investigating the causes of age-related differences in toxicity and efficacy. This work will require interdisciplinary collaborations with basic scientists, pharmacologists, pharmacokineticists, and geriatricians, in addition to the collaborations with surgeons, radiation oncologists, radiologists, geneticists, and others with are part of the daily clinical care of breast cancer patients.
