Welcome to the Breast Imaging Research Lab website.  We are affiliated with the Biomedical Research Imaging Center, Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, and Department of Radiology at the University of North Carolina.  Our research lab, headed by Dr. Etta Pisano, has as its primary focus the development and assessment of imaging devices for detection of breast cancer. 

Key research areas  include: (1) design and implementation of breast imaging device clinical trials across the spectrum of clinical uses (screening, diagnostic, image-guided surgical planning, and treatment response studies); (2) research and development activities for new breast imaging systems; (3)clinical quality assurance and workflow metrics; and (4) assessment of tools and best practices that support the translation of phenomena identified in our basic science labs to clinical use in breast cancer imaging.
