Welcome to the Breast Imaging Research Lab website.  We are affiliated with the Biomedical Research Imaging Center, Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, and Department of Radiology at the University of North Carolina.  Our research lab, headed by Dr. Etta Pisano, has as its primary focus the development and assessment of imaging devices for detection of breast cancer. 

Our research areas are currently focused on breast imaging device clinical trials (screening, diagnostic, image guided surgical planning, and treatment response studies), new breast imaging technology research and development, clinical quality assurance/ workflow metrics in the mammography clinic, and assessment of data collection systems for the clinic-research enterprise.
