The GE PETtrace Cyclotron

The cyclotron is composed of many intricate parts as seen in the picture to the left:
  • Ion Source - Introduces charge particles to the accelerator 
  • "Dees" - Responsible for alternating polarity which causes acceleration of the particle
  • Beam extractors - Redirect charge particles into targets
  • Target bodies - Hold highly purified material for transmutation

 Hot Cell and Chemistry Module

  • Hot cell provides shielding from radioactivity during synthesis 
  • Various chemistry modules allow for synthesis of radiopharmeceuticals such as 
    • FDG
    • NH3
    • C11 compounds
