Mr. Scyphers currently works with the US Department of Health and Human Services/National Disaster Medical System serving as Emergency Planning Analyst, Planning Section Chief- Incident Response Coordination Team-Advanced, Planner for IRCT-East/Southeast. He has been a part of multiple NDMA Response Deployments including response to Continental Flight 3407, Hurricane Ike, Hurricane Katrina, to name a few. Mr. Scyphers retired as Associate Dean of the Health and Public Safety Division at Davidson Community College with 30 years of state service in 2008. His past experience includes serving as an EMT-Paramedic for Davidson County Emergency Medical Services from 1979-1994 and in 2008 he rejoined as a part time Paramedic/Logistician.

Mr. Scyphers has many years of experience as an educator. He has many other teaching opportunities for developing and disseminating education on operations in EMS and Homeland Security Planning. He holds numerous certifications both past and present. He was affiliated with the National Registry of EMT’s Representative- administering NREMT national certification examinations, all levels from 1994-2006.
