North Carolina's electric cooperatives partner with several suppliers, associates, and vendors each year to host a fundraising golf tournament benefiting the North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center at UNC Hospitals. In 2012, the co-ops raised a record breaking $117,318 and a check in that amount was presented to the Burn Center Advisory Board in January 2013. A founding supporter of the Burn Center, North Carolina's Touchstone Energy cooperatives have contributed more than $1.1 million to the Center since 1973.
North Carolina's electric cooperatives provide reliable, safe, and affordable energy and related services to more than 950,000 households and businesses in 93 of North Carolina's counties. Each of the state's 26 cooperatives is member-owned, not-for-profit and overseen by a board of directors elected by the membership.
