CAMPOS and PHS Clinical Track specifics
By acceptance to this track, you will have priority placement in PHS clinics for these various required and elective rotations:
First and Second Year (Foundation Phase): Your required two outpatient clinical weeks will be at PHS.
Application Phase (third year): Your required four-month ambulatory clinical rotation will be at PHS.
Fourth year: Your required CAMPOS rotation in Latino Health (considered an elective by the SOM) will be at PHS.
Potential Benefits to you
- Allow selected students an enhanced four-year clinical experience with primarily Spanish-speaking underserved patients.
- Participate in a fourth year rotation where students are more independent and work as acting interns in an ambulatory primary care setting.
- Learn the PHS electronic medical record during their first year of studies and enhance your ability to function as part of the team in subsequent years, including the fourth year.
- Enhances your exposure to primary care and treating the underserved populations.
- Introduces you to a different model of care.
- Allows you to have a clinical mentor for primary care for four years at PHS.
- Provides you an opportunity to participate in outreach program via PHS.
- May stimulate you to study for an MPH based on your PHS experiences and can potentially select PHS for any future research or quality of care projects.
