Research in Peru

Aidan Berry spent her summer in spent my summer in Lima and Iquitos, Peru practicing Spanish while working on a clinical research project examining patients hospitalized with HIV and toxoplasmosis co-infections. In her spare time she “monkeyed” around in the jungle and Amazon River surrounding Iquitos. (2017)

Public Health in Honduras

Another successful year for the Honduran Health Alliance. Several CAMPOS students and other UNC SOM students gave public health charlas, saw over 500 patients, and made a major impact in cervical cancer screening and prevention in southern Honduras. (2017)

Community Mental Health in Argentina

Shannon Herndon spent her summer in Neuquen, Argentina at a community mental health clinic called the Austral Institute. She conducted an independent qualitative research study by interviewing patients, employees, and community stakeholders. It was an incredible experience, and she was fortunate enough to see some incredible landscapes in Neuquen and the surrounding Patagonia region while she was there. (2017)

Health Fairs in Mexico
