Where to go for help with your I.T. needs.

As of April 1, 2009, the Department's information technology needs will be handled primarily by the School of Medicine Office of Information Systems (OIS).  We will upgrade our server and it will be relocated to a dedicated, secure space and managed by OIS.  Data will be backed up and stored at SOM contracted facility (Iron Mountain).  In the next month, we will migrate all current data to new server.

Technical support

Submit work order request:

  • via email to; or
  • call OIS Help Desk at 966-1325;
  • for real emergencies (e.g. computer is dead, deadline looming), call 843-8410


  • Work order via email gets automatically routed to OIS staff
  • Techs will call to work through issue on phone or set up appointment


  • First 15 minutes of phone support is free
  • No charge for fixes such as:
    • Password resets
    • Email configuration
    • IP address registrations
    • New SOM (instant) and local domain (~24 hr) account setups
  • For bigger jobs $80/hr, 15 minute increments:
    • Various technical problems
    • Software installation
    • PC diagnostics
    • Set-up of new computers
    • Connection or email trouble-shooting
    • Virus removal

At completion of work order, a service request invoice will be provided with charge to billable account
