August 2009 –  Carie Facemire, PhD, research instructor in the Arendshorst lab, made the news for her work while at Duke in the lab of Thomas Coffman, MD.  Dr. Facemire is a 2005 graduate of this department and she conducted her postdoctoral training in the Coffman lab.  Her paper, “Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Receptor 2 Controls Blood Pressure by Regulating Nitric Oxide Synthase Expression,” was published in the journal Hypertension with an accompanying editorial commentary highlighting its significance in the field.  Duke University issued a press release on it that was subsequently picked up by other online media outlets.
