May 2012 – Graduate student Jim Dunleavey wins first place award for his poster in the Basic Science category at this year’s UNC Lineberger Cancer Center Scientific Retreat.

May 2012 – Graduate student Jim Dunleavey won the first place award in the Basic Science category for his poster, “Role of vascular mimicry in tumor escape from anti-angiogenic therapy,” at this year’s UNC Lineberger Cancer Center Scientific Retreat.

The retreat was held on May 23, 2012, from 1:00 pm – 6:00 pm at the George Watts Hill Alumni Center and featured a talk by the new Chair of the President’s Cancer Panel, Dr. Barbara K. Rimer. Dr. Rimer is Dean of the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health and a UNC Lineberger member. The poster session included more than 60 posters from students, fellows, and residents. Judges selected 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards in each of three categories: Basic Science, Clinical/Translational Science, and Population Sciences.

Jim is a third-year student conducting his PhD studies in the lab of Drew Dudley.
