January 2011 – The Bhat lab’s latest research, recently published in the journal Neuron, is making news at UNC and beyond. The press release issued by UNC School of Medicine news has been picked up by many online news sources such as ScienceDaily, EurekAlert, and the Children’s Neurobiological Solutions Foundation. Study first author Courtney Thaxton, PhD, has been working to unravel the molecular organization and critical proteins at the nodes of Ranvier, and how dysfunction at the nodes contributes to demyelination and the disruption of nerve impulse conduction.
