Dr. Kirby Zeman

kirby Dr. Zeman’s research activities include investigating effectors of mucociliary clearance, patterns of particle deposition and deposition fractions, and gas ventilation in normal and diseased lungs. In support of the studies, he has developed methods and devices for generating labeled particles and for measuring, detecting and analyzing particle deposition in lungs by gamma scintigraphy. Current emphasis is on testing therapeutic agents for ameliorating decrements in mucocilary clearance in cystic fibrosis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma and respiratory infections.
