The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill presents this symposium to provide a practical update on the Surgical Pathology, Cytopathology,and Molecular Pathology of selected diseases of the Head and Neck. Dr. Leon Barnes, Chief of Head and Neck Pathology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, is our guest faculty this year. He will give two lectures, including the 6th Annual Benson Lecture on Selected Tumors of Salivary Glands, and a second lecture entitled Pitfalls and Diagnostic Dilemmas in Head and Neck Pathology. Additional lectures will focus on cyto/histo correlation in thyroid diseases, jaw cysts and tumors, cutaneous lesions, EBV- and HPV- induced diseases, and thyroid carcinomas. Ample time is provided for discussion and personal interaction between the faculty and attendees.
