This symposium will celebrate the opening of the NC Cancer Hospital by focusing on how advances in basic science have led to improved care and longer survival for patients with many different types of cancer. An international panel of experts from a variety of disciplines will describe how our improved understanding of the molecular basis of cancer has enhanced our management of malignancies as diverse as lung cancer and leukemia. These presentations are designed to provide attendees with both a better understanding of the underlying principles on which many of our most important discoveries have been made and examples of how these discoveries have translated into better patient care.
