Registration and Attendance FAQ
How can I register for a UNC CME activity?
Once an activity is open for registration, we will post the registration form on the Calendar. You may print out the registration form and either fax it (with Visa or Mastercard information) to 919-962-1664 or mail it with your check or credit card number to our office at:
UNC School of Medicine
Office of CME
CB# 7321, Medical Research Bldg B
Chapel Hill, NC 27599-7321
Please fill out a complete registration form for each person registering. We do not accept registration without complete payment. We accept checks, Visa, and Mastercard. Receipt of registration does not ensure activity attendance, because seating is sometimes limited. Accepted registrations will be confirmed via mail within 10 business days. UNC CME recommends that you not make air travel arrangements before receiving confirmation. UNC CME is not responsible for travel-related costs.
Can I register online?
We are not taking registrations on-line at this time.
Does UNC CME take registrations by telephone?
We do not take registrations by telephone due to the high caller volume and privacy issues. Please fully complete the registration form and either fax it with credit card information or mail it to us with check or credit card information.
May I register "at the door"?
For the majority of our conferences, you may register and pay on-site the day of the CME activity. However, there are some activities that require pre-registration because attendance is limited. We do prefer that you pre-register. This enables us to have enough course materials, meals and a nametag prepared before your arrival. Please call 919-962-2118 or email our office to confirm that you may register on-site.
What if I register and need to cancel my registration at the last minute?
In the brochures for all of our activities, we provide a cancellation deadline. To receive a refund, you must submit your cancellation in writing either by fax or mail, by this deadline. Upon receipt of your cancellation, we will refund your registration fee, minus an administrative fee listed in the brochure. Cancellations received after the deadline will not be refunded.
The University reserves the right to cancel or postpone any course due to unforeseen circumstances. In the event of cancellation or postponement, the University will fully refund registration fees but is not responsible for any related costs or expenses to participants, including cancellation fees assessed by hotels, airlines, rental car or travel agencies.
In the event that you cancel your registration and are due a refund, then we must have your social security number due to the Taxpayer Relief Act of 1997. This provision requires educational institutions to provide the IRS with information on any students taking continuing education training. The minimum information required is full name, social security number and mailing address.
How do I get on your mailing list?
Because our meetings are so specialized we purchase mailing lists tailored specifically to the target audience of each conference we sponsor. Please check our website for the most up-to-date listing of our conferences and printable brochures if they are released. If you see a specific course that you are interested in, but there is not yet a brochure, call us at 919-962-2118 or email our office at: ada_southerland@med.unc.edu and we will mail you a brochure when it becomes available. If you hear about a course other than the web site, and do not have access to the web or printing capabilities, call or email our office and we will mail you a copy.
I received a postcard to “save the date”. Will I automatically receive the brochure?
For many of the activities we provide, we mail “save the date” postcards. We use the same mailing lists for the brochures as we do for the postcards. So if you received the postcard you should also receive the brochure as soon as it is ready.
