This presentation offers results from UNC’s “U.S. Biobank Study,” the first large-scale study of how U.S. biobanks operate. Analysis of our survey and interview data reveal unexpected ethical dilemmas embedded in the policies and practices of biobanks. These results will be discussed in light of the need for practical planning when designing and operating a biobank.
