Access to information systems and computer applications used within UNC Health Care System requires the completion and approval of a System Access Request Form (SARF).
This form, and instructions for completing and returning, is available at these locations:

Completion of MD Code section on the SARF is required for credentialing purposes.
ISA will send the User ID and Password information to the Resident Coordinator at their departmental mailing location. The Resident Coordinator distributes this information to their new residents.
Access to the School of Medicine Information Network (SOMIN) must be coordinated through the School of Medicine Office of Information System (OIS) at 966-9900.
UNC Health Care System offers end user computer application and training on the Health Care System’s applications on a regular basis. It is possible to arrange customized classes, telephone consultation or individual training sessions as required and according to business need.

This site also provides information about training opportunities offered through UNC's Academic Technology and Networks (ATN). ISD Training & User Support distributes monthly an Information email to Department Heads and Supervisors with future course schedules.

WebCIS (Web-based Clinical Information System)
The Web-based Clinical Information
System (WebCIS) is an integrated web-based application set that allows a
clinician to retrieve and document most components of the patient’s medical
record. This application provides valuable and convenient access to
on-line medical records such as lab test results; reports such as discharge
summaries, history & physical, and radiology with online images; progress
notes; allergies; and, medications.
UNC Health Care System uses Microsoft Outlook as the standard email application. Microsoft Outlook Web Access enables users to receive and send Email from a web browser at any location.
Siemens (SMS) Basics
Access to Siemens is necessary for the capture, recording and viewing of demographic patient information, appointments, census, orders, admissions, discharges, and other clinical data. Siemens is accessible on designated personal computers and clinical workstations throughout the UNC Health Care System complex.
Picture Archiving and Communication Systems – PACS
Online digital images are available for viewing for clinical purposes using PACS. In addition to being a stand-alone web-based application, access to PACS is also available using WebCIS for radiology reports having online images.
A Customer Support Center (CSC) help desk service is available to UNC Health Care Systems’ application users who experience computer related difficulties. When you call the CSC, you have access to all the services provided by Information Services Division.
Help is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week with calls recorded and tracked for resolution.
