The Thoracic Surgery service at UNC won the 2016 Outstanding Service Award, which is presented annually by UNC Department of Surgery interns to the service that they consider is best at faculty teaching and at providing clinical opportunities and technical experience. Thoracic surgeons in the UNC Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery are Benjamin Haithcock, MD, and Jason Long, MD.
The award was presented at Surgery Grand Rounds on June 8, 2016.
At the same meeting, Kevan Haas, PA-C, won an Outstanding Service Award from Surgery residents in recognition of his commitment to teaching. Mr. Haas is a physician assistant for adult cardiac surgery in the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery.
