Funding Needs
- Distinguished Professorships - Income
from these named endowments will provide salary supplements to recruit
and retain the best researchers with outstanding research credentials.
They will also contribute to outfitting faculty with equipment, library
resources, academic leaves, research assistants and travel. The State
of North Carolina will provide matching dollars twoard each professorship
endowment.
- Visiting Fellows Program - This
program will bring visiting vaccine researchers to teach, do research,
learn new techniques and be available as resources for the vaccine
research community. We will place a heavy emphasis on having research
fellows from the countries where the diseases we are researching are
most prevalent so they can apply their new knowledge when they return
home
- Research Fellowships - Named fellowships
provide resources for research support, and salary and travel stipends
for medical students and post-doctoral fellows who show promise as
vaccine researchers. Having additional researchers also improves CVI’s
ability to receive NIH funding.
- Equipment Upgrades - Adding additional
state-of-the-art equipment will not only improve the speed and accuracy
of our existing research, but will make our facilities even more attractive
to top-quality researchers in the vaccine field.
- Vaccine Research Fund - Income
from a named research fund would provide salary support and resources
for important research to help us advance the overall vaccine field.
Gifts from this fund could be used for the following:
• Explore potential new vaccine technology concepts
• Explore new applications for existing technologies
• Continue existing work between grant cycles
• Collaborate with other scientists nationally and internationally
• Advance understanding of basic virus biology
- Guest Lectureships - To provide
for leaders in vaccine related fields to speak to and interact with
students, faculty and the community.
