Giving Q & A
Where does my gift to Carolina Vaccine Institute
go?
Gifts to CVI help our faculty conduct cutting-edge research,
train future vaccine researchers, and advance the field of vaccine research.
A full list of funding priorities can be found here.
Will I receive a thank you note? What other
recognition will I receive?
Absolutely; all donors will receive a prompt acknowledgement
of their gifts and a formal thank you. Our researchers are passionate
about their work and about our mission to develop low-cost, effective
vaccines for millions who desperately need them, and we greatly appreciate
your support of our work.
Naming opportunities, including endowed professorships
are available and provide additional recognition of your generous support.
To discuss these options, please contact Jake
Wiltshire (919-966-4026).
Is my gift tax-deductible?
Yes. CVI is part of The Medical Foundation of North
Carolina, Inc., which raises funds to benefit the University of North
Carolina School of Medicine and UNC Health Care. All gifts are tax-deductible
subject to the limits allowed by the Internal Revenue Service.
How do I encourage gifts in memory of someone?
If you have lost a loved one and wish to request contributions
to CVI, you may include specific wording in the obituary notice, such
as "The family requests that memorial contributions be made to
the Carolina Vaccine Institute, CB #7292 UNC-CH, Chapel Hill, NC 27599."
If you would like to have CVI materials or gift envelopes available
or have further questions, please feel free to contact Jake
Wiltshire (919-966-4026).
What other giving options are available?
Gifts can be made in a variety of ways to best suit
your situation. One-time gifts of cash, check or credit-card payment
are available. You may also make a pledge commitment over several years.
We are also equipped to receive gifts of stock, bequest gifts, as well
as some in-kind gifts.
How can I get more information about making
a gift?
CVI's development office can assist you with all types
of charitable gifts and will work with you to maximize personal and
tax benefits while contributing to the future of millions in the developing
world and to the future of global public health for everyone. For more
information about your giving options to CVI, please contact Jake
