Conrad transitioning to Lineberger, CWHR welcomes Armstrong
After successfully serving as the Center for Women’s Health Research’s (CWHR) Finance Director, Tracey Conrad has announced she will be transitioning to her new position as the Assistant Director, Business Administration of the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center effective Oct. 31.
Study demonstrates positive impact of azithromycin prior to cesarean delivery
Dr. Kim Boggess, a professor in the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, and fellow investigators of the Cesarean Section Optimal Antibiotic Prophylaxis (C/SOAP) study have discovered that administering the antibiotic, azithromycin alongside the standard recommended antibiotic regimen, cefazolin, reduces infection rates by 50 percent for women who have a non-elective cesarean delivery.
UNC-led, multi-center study, to examine Metformin’s impact on infant health
Four co-investigators from UNC will lead a five-year, multicenter study to examine the impact of combined Metformin and insulin therapy on infant outcomes with mothers experiencing type 2 diabetes in pregnancy.
Vora receives CWHR Personnel Support award
Dr. Neeta Vora, a CWHR principal investigator for the A New Era of Genomics for Fetal Diagnosis grant, has been awarded $2,200 through the Center's fiscal year 2017 CWHR Personnel Support Program.
