The Center for Women's Health Research loves to see papers produced as a result of collaborations between our principal investigators. Two such papers have been published in Obstetrics & Gynecology, popularly known as "The Green Journal" and epublished ahead of print.
The first, Trends in Glyburide Compared With Insulin Use for Gestational Diabetes Treatment in the United States, 2000-2011 is a collaboration between Drs. Wendy Camelo-Castillo, Kim Boggess, Til Sturmer, Alan Brookhard, Daniel Benjamin and Michele Jonsson-Funk. The team examined data from between 2001 and 2007 which demonstrated a rise in the preference for using the drug over during that time as the primary treatment method for gestational diabetes (GDM). The article examines their methods, the implications of GDM, as well as recommendations for the future use and study of .
In the second article, Lifetime Risk of Stress Urinary Incontinence or Pelvic Organ Prolapse Surgery, the study team concluded that by the time a woman reaches age 80 she has a estimated 20% risk of surgery for or . The paper was co-written by Dr. Jennifer Wu, Dr. Catherine Matthews, Dr. Mitchell Conover, Virginia Pate, and Dr. Michele Jonsson-Funk. The paper discusses, methods, materials, results, and makes recommendations.
