The Dermatology Interest Group (DIG) is a student group at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. Our mission is to provide medical students interested in dermatology information and experiences about the profession and its associated environment. The Dermatology Interest Group also aims to educate the Chapel Hill community about prevalent dermatologic issues, most specifically skin cancer and sun safety.
- Encourage medical student interest in the specialty of dermatology by holding educational meetings with guest speakers, faculty, and dermatology residents.
- Highlight the multifaceted aspects of dermatology, including its subspecialties, clinical challenges, and new developments in treatment.
- Raise awareness about skin cancer and promote sun safety among high school students in the Chapel Hill area through our community outreach program, Spot-a-Spot.
