Recognition of Achievement for Best Practices in Teaching Spoken Language to Children who are Deaf and Hard of HearingCASTLE is proud to be part of the NC Consortium for Deaf/HH Continuing Education. This program recognizes professionals, dedicated and committed to continuing education in the field of deaf education; particularly the development of listening and spoken language skills. Graduate TrainingTraining and internships of varying lengths are available to professionals in the state of North Carolina working with children who are deaf or hard of hearing and their families. Professionals receive intensive, hands-on training in the use of an auditory-oral approach to developing spoken language through listening. Additionally, professionals are provided opportunities to learn about the medical, surgical, and audiological management of hearing loss, including new technologies.
Summer InstituteThe 2011 Carolina Summer Institute in Auditory Verbal Therapy will be held June 13-24. Registration will be available on this website. We will notify you in May if you have been accepted. Acceptance for the full 2 week program will be based on availability, qualifications, and intent. Space is limited. For the Module Only (June 13-15). North Carolina professionals attend the module only for free while out of state registrations are only $300 for the 3 day classroom training. this will be presented in a large hall at UNC Hospitals, making space less limited. Gather your colleagues and plan now to attend. Scholarships. Tuition scholarships will be available on a limited basis. If requesting a scholarship, include a letter of request with your application, stating the reasons for the request. We will award scholarships based on availability of funds and need. We will notify you as quickly as possible about your request. For further information, contact Hannah Eskridge. First YearsCASTLE is proud to take part in the First Years program. This distance learning program targets its certificate courses to professionals interested in expanding their knowledge and skills related to auditory-oral and auditory-verbal approaches to therapy and intervention.
