Parent Support

Parents receive counseling, education and guidance through individual one-on-one Parent Participation Sessions emphasizing the acquisition of spoken language skills through listening. Parents, children, and therapists meet on a regular basis to learn, through play, techniques and strategies that promote listening and speaking. Additionally, through a Family Learning Center and resource library, parents and caregivers learn to incorporate language development into daily activities.

Insight

A parent group meeting every 3rd Tuesday from 11:15 to 12:00 and from 12:00-12:45. Parents learn more information about spoken language development for children who are deaf or hard of hearing. Topics cover language development, audiological management and auditory strategies to use at home. Attendance is free and childcare is provided. Registration is required. Please contact Lori Parker to register.

Mommy and Me Language Group

This is a playgroup for toddlers who are deaf or hard of hearing and their parents. The purpose is to provide an intensive, language-rich environment, parent education and an opportunity to network with other families.  This program is free.

Please contact the program director, Hannah Eskridge, for more information on any of these opportunities.
