Welcome to the Atrial Fibrillation Center at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill!
The Atrial Fibrillation Center is dedicated to the comprehensive management of the patient with atrial fibrillation. Because of the many aspects to management of the patient with atrial fibrillation, the Atrial Fibrillation Center is designed to integrate the care within a team of cardiac electrophysiologists, nurse practitioners, and EP laboratory staff. Although there are many guidelines to help with the management of atrial fibrillation, care must be individualized to a patient's particular circumstance and wishes. To this end, we address both the prevention of potential hazards associated with atrial fibrillation in addition to alleviating symptoms which can profoundly diminish a patient's quality of life.
The Atrial Fibrillation Center is also set up to help understand better the natural course and consequences of management decisions. For this purpose, a mission of the center is to collect and analyze various subjective and objective measurements during the time a patient comes into contact with the Atrial Fibrillation Center. With a greater understanding of the various aspects of atrial fibrillation management, our treatment strategies will only improve.
