Why I chose UNC:
The EM residency at UNC stood out for me because the training is split between the academic environment at UNC and the community/county environment at Wake; I knew that upon my graduation in 3 years my experience in both settings would make me a more versatile EM physician. Living in the research triangle area is great because outside of work there are lots of smart, motivated young professionals to interact with. I must also mention the leadership here is exceptional--to the point where I look forward to conference even if I'm post night-shift. Weird, right? I would have thought so too.
