Rich Medlin, MD completed his ONC funded graduate certificate

Rich Medlin, MD, of the Carolina Health Informatics Program (CHIP), recently completed his ONC (CMS's Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology) funded graduate certificate in Healthcare Informatics from the School of Information and Library Science at UNC.

He is now working on a Master's Degree. His research interests are focused on using natural language processing to extract clinical information from Emergency Department records. The information extracted may then be used for bio surveillance, clinical decision support and the discovery of novel clinical knowledge.
