For a group in Chapel Hill called Carpe Diem Rochelle Chijioke (PGY3) is volunteering as an alcohol educator for a group in Chapel Hill called Carpe Diem. Carpe Diem is a program specifically designed for college students who have been charged by law enforcement with an alcohol violation and offered a first offender's deferred prosecution by the District Attorney's Office. They work primarily with UNC students educating on the medical effects of alcohol. Dr. Nikki Waller was the first UNC EM resident to participate in the program and residents have been passing down the responsibility ever since. |
