The Moses Cone Family Practice Residency was one of the first accredited Family Practice Programs in the United States. Major goals: promote excellence in Family Medicine education; provide excellent patient service; integrate technology in all aspects of family medicine education; promote resident and faculty professional development; and provide community service to the greater Greensboro area. The residency teaches 24 residents and 3 sports medicine fellows. Approximately 25 third year UNC medical students are educated each year with approximately eight fourth year students serving as acting interns for one month on the inpatient service and six to eight students or residents in the sports medicine rotation. The sports medicine fellows are taught clinical sports medicine, are responsible for sports coverage at a high school and a college as well as local community sporting events, and are involved in teaching residents and medical students. Each year the program has had a primary care pharmacy resident, Athletic Training Students from Guilford College and four doctoral-level graduate students in psychology from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro.
