UNC Sports Medicine Injury Clinic Starts August 2017
If you suspect you may have sprained your ankle, broken a finger or received a concussion in last week's game, come to the UNC Family Medicine Center on Saturday morning to get checked by our sports medicine experts. We are now offering a walk-in injury clinic on Saturday mornings only.

AMSSM Annual Meeting
The UNC Sports Medicine faculty and fellows attended the 2016 AMSSM conference held in Dallas, Texas. This year's theme "Back to the Future: Celebrating 25 years of AMSSM". The purpose of the conference was to provide a valuable source of current "cutting edge" medical knowledge to professionals actively engaged in treating athletic patients. UNC was very active during the week with community service projects, podium presentations from the faculty and fellows.

Dr. Berkoff elected to AMSSM Board of Directors
Congratulations to Dr. David Berkoff, Associate of Director the Sports Medicine Fellowship, who was elected to the Broad of Directors for the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM) in May 2013. We congratulate him on this outstanding achievement.

Stafford speaks at Collegiate Athletic Trainer Symposium – Las Vegas, Nevada
Dr. Harry Stafford was invited to teach a musculoskeletal (MSK) workshop to collegiate athletic trainers. Twenty athletic trainers attended the workshop. During the workshop they learned MSK ultrasound of both the shoulder and knee. The workshop was well received by all in attendance. Dr. Stafford hopes to expand the workshop to include additional athletic trainers next year. A very special Thank You to SonoSite, the MSK Ultrasound Co., for providing ultrasound units to help teach the course.
Sports Medicine Fellows

Faculty from UNC Family Medicine and the Sports Medicine Fellowship teach bracing, casting and splinting workshops. UNC Sports Faculty and fellows were available for the UNC School of Medicine family medicine interest group workshop. During the workshop students learned how to correctly apply braces as well as how to split and cast musculoskeletal injuries.
