Holiday Hours

Please be aware that the Family Medicine Center will operate on a reduced schedule during the Thanksgiving holiday:  We will be closed on Thursday, November 27.   On Friday, November 28, the FMC will be open from 8am to 12pm for urgent appointments only. On Saturday, November 29th we will be open from 8-12 as usual. We will be unable to process medication refills from Friday, November 28th  until Monday, December 1st.

Celebrate the Great American Smokeout on November 20
UNC’s Nicotine Dependence Program will celebrate the Great American Smokeout on November 20, by giving away free nicotine patches. If you’ve been thinking of quitting, now is the time. If you’ve tried before, now is the time to try again. You or a loved one can get support from the Nicotine Dependence Program at UNC Family Medicine, call 919-843-1521 or email ndp@med.unc.edu. Tobacco counselors will work with you to create a personalized quit plan.
Open Enrollment Begins Soon. Get Covered, Carolina!
Starting November 15, 2014, you can enroll in an affordable health plan that works for you. The Health Insurance Marketplace helps uninsured people get health coverage. You can compare health insurance plans and then select a plan during annual open enrollment which is November 15, 2014 - February 15, 2015. UNC Family Medicine will be offering free appointments again this year for our patients who are interested in meeting with a certified application counselor who has been trained to help people in understanding the marketplace.

UNC Family Medicine to Create Model Health Care Practice
UNC Family Medicine is creating the nation's leading family medicine practice. In November, that dream will become reality as we begin construction on the renovation of the UNC Family Medicine Center. After more than a year of planning, the design is final. We will soon begin work on the first phase of the project which includes the parking lot and the sports medicine/procedural suite.
UNC Family Medicine Center Offers Saturday Morning Sports Injury Clinic
Beginning August 23, the UNC Family Medicine Center will offer a fall walk-in sports injury clinic for local high school and college athletes as well as weekend warriors. The walk-in clinic is on Saturday mornings from 8:00am – 10:00am. All services are provided by Board-Certified Sports Medicine Specialists and include everything from xray and ultrasound to casting and concussion care.
