Traditional Prenatal Care
Traditional Prenatal Care
The birth of a baby is one of the most anticipated events in a family's life.
At the UNC Family Medicine Center, we recognize the importance of excellent care and communication and strive to fulfill your expectations.

At UNC Family Medicine Center, our goal is to provide you and your family with a positive pregnancy and birth experience. We have created a system of care based around our goal of listening to your needs. We limit the number of providers you will meet to a small team, so that the same providers who get to know you during prenatal care will be available to help you deliver your baby. We believe, having spent your pregnancy exploring your hopes for your birth, that our personalized and continuous support throughout the birth process is important. We welcome your partner, your family, labor coaches, or other active participants into your birth experience.
We provide a broad range of services to you and your family, including full prenatal care services, a lab on-site, delivery at the North Carolina Women's Hospital, a certified nurse-midwife on staff, pregnancy, childbirth, and parenting information, a lending library, nutrition counseling, Maternity Care Coordinator and Medicaid counseling on-site, acupuncture and physical therapy on-site, same-day MCH clinic for urgent needs, and care by excellent family physicians. We also provide after hours care via an MCH pager that will connect you with a physician on-call.
If you need special care during your pregnancy or birth, we work closely with specialists at UNC Hospitals including perinatologists, neonatologists, and anesthesiologists. We will arrange consultation with these specialists while continuing to oversee your prenatal care.
