WellBabies: Group Pediatric Care for the First Year

| ||
It's been said that it takes a village to raise a child. At UNC Family Medicine Center, we know it's not always easy to make those community connections and still have time to attend to everything else in your busy schedules. That is why we offer the best of both worlds: WellBabies Group Pediatric Care. Make those important community connections with other families while providing excellent pediatric care for your child.What could be easier?
UNC Family Medicine Center recognizes that sometimes new families or families with new babies need the support of a community that shares and learns together. In our busy lives with relatives and friends sometimes far away, it can be hard to find that support. That is why we've developed WellBabies: Group Pediatric Care for the First Year. Learn from other families, share your own experiences, and get excellent family care all at once! Join three to five other families at regular intervals during your child's first year of life and receive excellent care from a pediatric specialist or nurse-midwife and nursing staff in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. You will receive a personalized WellBabies Book in which to record your baby's health and milestone information and will receive both one-to-one time with your provider and community time with your group and your families. Group sessions typically last 120 minutes and follow the same general outline: a weight/measurement check of your baby followed by a brief, individual examination and one-on-one time with your provider. Then "Tummy Time" for your developing infant and his/her friends while you and other families discuss topics related to your child's age and current milestones. Immunizations--when appropriate and at your discretion--are given at the end of the session.
