Clinical Care in the Community

Family medicine strives to provide high quality, low cost care to patients where they work and live. Our providers and residents contribute to the community through outreach to vulnerable populations. This kind of service keeps our clinic connected to those who need care most.

Wellness@Work is a worksite wellness program sponsored by UNC Family Medicine.  Staffed by UNC Family Medicine doctors and nurses, Wellness@Work provides a high quality option for employers who are focused on keeping their employees healthy.  Read more here!

Migrant farm workers program

Migrant FarmWorker Program

The North Carolina Farmworker Health Program trains and supports community outreach workers at 10 sites around the state. These bilingual community health workers visit the farmworker camps, do health assessments, and help farmworkers who need health care to access it. The UNC Family Practice residency program has a 2 week required rotation for second year residents called “Hidden and Vulnerable Populations”. During these 2 weeks, residents join faculty in providing primary medical care to farmworkers on a mobile medical unit out Benson, NC late on Tuesday nights during the agricultural season.
