Welcome to Families Attending Medical SchoolWho are we? What do we do? We are a group of medical students at UNC who juggle children, spouses, significant others, or other relationships in addition to the academic demands of medical school. We are here to facilitate interaction amoung medical students with families and to provide resources and support for students and their families during medical school or those planning on starting a family in the near future. The idea is to create a venue for non-traditional students (those managing families) to find support from the school, the the university, and the community. It takes a village. . .
Please contact Melinda_McNiel@med.unc.edu or Jully_Forero@med.unc.edu, the organization's leaders, with any comments or suggestions. Melinda has a 2 year-old daughter who was born halfway through her 1st year and she spent a year completing her MPH in nutrition after the baby was born. If you would like advice or encouragement about managing family life and school we have several great people who can help.
