Effective in 2006, long distance phone calls within the continental US are included at no additional charge in the monthly telecommuncations fee that is charged per phone line.
There is an additional charge for any call outside the continental United States and for 411 calls.
Long Distance Log
All departments are expected to maintain logs for calls and faxes made outside of the continental United States, and for 411 calls. The log should list the number called, vendor/company called, purpose of the call, and caller's name.
Managers whose departments have multiple lines need to assign the log responsibillity to the individual at that desk. Managers should periodically review the logs to ensure compliance. The logs should be used for reconcilation of the monthly telephone bill, and in the case of an audit, to support that calls made were for valid business purposes.
