Cabarrus Family Medicine Residency Program (Concord, NC)

Maureen Murphy, MD

Campus Clerkship Director

Cabarrus is unique in its exposure to the full range of family medicine including experiences of the inpatient family medicine service, maternal-child care and geriatrics.  Opportunities to be involved in the community include work at the Community Free Clinic and sports medicine involvement at local schools upon availability.  The practice sites are in Cabarrus, Rowan and Mecklenburg County, a rapidly growing area 20 minutes northeast of Charlotte.  The private practice teaching sites vary from 2 person partnership to group practices and from suburban to rural settings and are within a 40 minute radius of Concord, NC.  Dayback seminars are held on Wednesdays and Thursdays in Concord at the Cabarrus Family Medicine Residency.  Housing is provided in Concord.  When completing the AHEC housing form, please make a note on the form that housing is provided for every student in Concord, not Charlotte.  A membership to the Sports Center, an exercise facility, is another amenity provided for student wellness.
