Michele Birch, MD

Campus Clerkship Director

Charlotte, the state's largest city, offers a wide range of teaching practices in a thriving & economically robust metropolitan area. The practice settings range from urban to suburban to small town/rural. Most are partnerships or group practices. Orientation will be held in Chapel Hill on the first day of the rotation and daybacks will be held on Wednesdays.  Several sites have large Spanish speaking populations.  Most students are housed in Charlotte and commute to their sites.  Commutes range from several minutes up to 60 minutes, given traffic patterns and geography.  Having a car is required. Charlotte AHEC is delighted to offer new housing in a gated community with full amenities including high speed internet, pool, and a fitness center. This elegant housing is just minutes from the hospital and uptown Charlotte.
