NC Academy of Family Physicians

The North Carolina Academy of Family Physicians is the state's largest specialty medical association, with a membership of over 2,900 family physicians, Family Medicine residents and medical students. The NCAFP is a federated chapter of the American Academy of Family Physicians and was originally chartered in 1948.


NCAFP and Medical Students

The North Carolina Academy of Family Physicians (NCAFP) provides opportunities for medical students to discover the benefits and rewards of the family medicine specialty. NCAFP provides support for all the NC FMIG organizations and they also provide great opportunities for students to explore family medicine outside of the interests groups. a few of the opportunities are as follows:

Local & National Advocacy: The NCAFP represents over 2,700 family medicine professionals in North Carolina. The AAFP represents over 94,000 members across the US and its territories. This broad and diverse membership enables family medicine to be represented in Raleigh, Washington, D.C., and within numerous health policy arenas.

Communications: You will receive a quarterly state magazine, and several national journals. Online access to the AAFP and NCAFP websites also provide very timely information on a range of issues like CME, health initiatives, advocacy and membership information.
