Phenotype

 

These mice are deficient in NMDA receptors, but express sufficient levels (5%-10% of wild type levels) to allow for survival until adulthood. Mice completely lacking the NR1 protein die perinatally. NR1 (-/-) mice exhibit behavioral abnormalities that are associated with schizophrenia.
