About

Currently sees patients with Dr. Yolanda Scarlett, attending physician in the UNC pelvic floor clinic two half clinic days a week. Ms. Maier also has her own clinic 4 half days a week, seeing both new and return patients in the Functional Bowel and Motility clinic. Duties include diagnosing medical problems and prescribing necessary treatment and services for quality care; record and review normal and abnormal data. Take patient histories, conduct physical examinations, dictate and record the data in the patient’s record; prepare patient workups and summaries; order laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures. Patient population includes those with small bowel disorders (scleroderma, lupus, mixed connective diseases, chronic intestinal pseudo-obstruction, etc). Gastroparesis patients, chronic nausea and vomiting, CVS, IBS and other functional bowel disorders. Pelvic floor clinic with focus on pelvic floor outlet obstruction, fecal incontinence, chronic constipation, etc. Care of G tubes, J tubes, GJ tubes, working with home health. Member of the APP Credentialing Subcommittee for UNC Hospitals. Read and interpret breath testing for small bowel bacterial overgrowth, lactose intolerance, fructose intolerance, and helicobacter pylori infections for UNC hospitals. Read and interpret anorectal manometries for the UNC Motility clinic, with attending physician Dr. Yolanda Scarlett and Dr. Spencer Dorn.
