Clinical Focus: Clinical research is on constipation, fecal incontinence, and IBS.
Academic Interests: Much of my current research focuses on the prevention and treatment of fecal incontinence and is supported by the Agency for Health Care Research and Quality (R01 HS018695). Another research program focuses on the physiological and psychological mechanisms for symptoms of IBS, the fluctuation of bowel symptoms over time, and the development and validation of diagnostic criteria for IBS (R01 DK31369).
